More than a haircut

Every groom includes a nose-to-tail check.

Grooming gives me an hour or more of hands-on time with your pet, and I see the spots hidden under the coat that are easy to miss at home. While I work, I'm paying attention to their skin, coat, ears, paws, nails and overall comfort.

When I'm finished, I tell you anything worth knowing. Some clients have told me their vet later confirmed and treated something I spotted.

I'm not a veterinarian and I don't diagnose. I'm another set of eyes for you. If something concerns me, I'll explain what I saw and may suggest a call to your vet.

What's included

If your pet needs it, it's part of the groom.

I don't believe you should have to pick from a long list of upgrades to get your pet the care they need. I choose the products and steps based on your individual pet, and it's all in one price.

Depending on your pet, a groom can include

  • Double shampoo
  • Double conditioning
  • Haircut or trim
  • Brushing & coat prep
  • De-shedding
  • Detangling
  • Nails trimmed & ground smooth
  • Ear cleaning
  • Ear hair plucking (if needed)
  • Paw balm
  • Anal gland expression
  • Whitening for white coats
  • Hypoallergenic & specialty shampoos
  • Skin & coat treatments
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Cologne
  • A bandana

Severe matting, unusual coat condition, behavior or a much longer groom can affect the final price. I'll always talk with you first.

Your pet needs a trim as often as you doMost of us book a haircut every 4–6 weeks, because after that it starts to feel heavy, shaggy and just not right. Pets are the same, except they can't tell you. Staying on a 4–6 week schedule keeps their coat, skin, nails and ears healthy and makes every visit easier on them. I'm happy to book your next appointment before I leave.
TravelI serve about 40 miles around Marion. Farther stops are grouped by area when my route allows, and a travel fee may apply depending on distance. Tips are appreciated, never expected.

★★★★★

Given Schotzie's auto immune condition we can't take her to a grooming facility, having a local option come right to my house and be so cost effective is truly wonderful!

Kat Nelson · Schotzie's mom

Bonus she even brings her trailer to you to groom!

Jen Dzioba

The best thing is she comes right to you. All I can say is thank you.

Anxious, senior & special-needs pets

The pets other groomers turn away are welcome here.

Nervous or fearful

The quiet, one-on-one trailer helps a lot. I read each pet's stress signals and adjust my approach instead of forcing the same routine on everyone.

Seniors & limited mobility

Older pets and pets with physical limits get extra care with positioning, support and breaks.

Matting & safety

Comfort comes before coat length. If mats can't come out without pain, a shorter cut is kinder. If a pet becomes too distressed, I'll stop rather than push through.

Callie took the time with her and did such an amazing job. Lucy is not a fan of grooming but she had a great experience!

Embarrassed about your pet's coat? Please call anyway.

This is a judgment-free service. I don't care how things got to this point. I only care about helping your pet feel healthier and more comfortable from here.

My story

Hi, I'm Callie.

I started Pets Deserve Better because I love animals and saw a need for a different kind of grooming. I didn't want to build something focused on getting as many pets through the door as possible.

Before grooming, I spent two years as a licensed insurance agent. The work was meaningful, but it never matched where my heart was. I took some time on my family's dairy farm to think it through, and when I stepped into mobile grooming in 2025, I did it wholeheartedly.

Local groomers were often booked far out, and many owners struggled to get timely care. I wanted to be the groomer who is more flexible and willing to meet pets where they are. I'm self-taught, and I keep learning about coat and skin care, grooming products and animal behavior.

Family is a big part of who I am, and it's what my tagline means. While your pet is with me, they aren't just another appointment. They're family.

— Callie

Questions

Good to know before you book

Don't see your question? Text me at 715-701-1768. I'm happy to talk through details over the phone.

Do you groom cats?

Yes! I groom both dogs and cats.

Do I have to take my pet somewhere?

No. I come to you and groom in my trailer, right at your home.

How often should my pet be groomed?

For many pets, about every 4–6 weeks works best. The right schedule depends on breed, coat, skin and lifestyle, and I'll help you figure it out.

Do you charge separately for every shampoo or treatment?

No. I use what your individual pet needs as part of one price, instead of asking you to choose from a list of small upgrades.

Can you groom nervous or difficult pets?

Yes, depending on the animal. I work with many pets who need extra patience. Safety and your pet's well-being always decide how I proceed, and I may adjust or stop a groom if it's needed.

What if my pet is badly matted?

Comfort comes before coat length. If mats can't be safely removed without unnecessary pain, a shorter haircut or shave-down may be the kinder choice. I'll talk with you about it first.

What if you notice something concerning?

I'll tell you. I don't diagnose medical conditions, but grooming lets me see areas you may not normally see. I'll explain what I observed and may suggest contacting your vet.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens. Please give me as much notice as you can, since your appointment time and travel are reserved just for you. Severe weather or unsafe roads may occasionally mean I need to reschedule, because safety comes first.

How do I pay?

Tap to Pay, cash or check. Tips are appreciated but never required.

Every pet, every time, family always.

Ready for a calmer groom?

I'm accepting new dog and cat clients within about 40 miles of Marion. Send a request and I'll reach out to find a time on my route.
